Transfer Students Information
- Credit may be granted for most standard college courses in which grades of C or higher have been earned.
- A 2.0 cumulative college GPA on a 4.0 scale is required. A GPA below 2.0 may result in provisional acceptance.
- Except in unusual circumstances, no student who has been dropped from another college will be accepted for admission until he or she is eligible for readmission at the previous school.
- Each transcript will be evaluated by the Gateway College Academic Affairs Committee (AAC). At that time, a determination will be made concerning which, if any, of the student's courses will be applicable to his/her program at Gateway College. Credit transfer is determined on an individual basis by the AAC. Transcripts will not be evaluated until the application process is complete. You will receive a transcript evaluation upon your acceptance to Gateway College. Transfer credit evaluations will not reflect courses in progress.
- Gateway College will accept up to 64 semester hours of college credit for students transferring from community colleges. We will also accept up to 96 semester hours of college credit from four-year colleges, or from a combination of community and four-year colleges. You must complete a minimum of 32 semester hours of our 128-semester-hour degree requirement at Gateway College (a minimum of 15 semester hours of this must be taken in your major field of study).
Conditional Admission for Transfer Students
Transfer students with less than a C average may be admitted on academic probation by special action of the AAC if there is reason to expect an improvement in academic performance.
